AUTHORIAL FIELD METHOD

Landscape Acupuncture

Precise work at selected points to support the recovery of landscapes and ecosystems.
About the Method
Landscape Acupuncture is an authorial field practice by Bronislav Reznik, developed from many years of classical acupuncture practice and adapted to degraded and unstable territories. Soil, water, vegetation and relief are considered elements of one interconnected system.

Why “acupuncture”? The key is not only the scale of an intervention, but its location. Instead of rebuilding an entire site, I study key points where a precise action may support natural processes. Any response beyond the selected point remains a working hypothesis and a subject for further study.
How the Work Is Done
I begin by reading the territory on site: relief, water movement, soil condition, vegetation and the boundary between stable and disturbed zones. At selected points I make a precise intervention with natural materials, without large-scale earthworks or heavy machinery.
What Happens After the Intervention
The initial condition is documented and observation continues through the following seasons. I look at changes around the point and at any possible response beyond it. The absence of measurable change is also a valuable research result.
Which Territories May Benefit
The method may be relevant for degraded, exhausted and eroded land, areas affected by agriculture or industry, and territories where restoration measures are being planned. Each site is considered individually; Landscape Acupuncture complements, but does not replace, engineering and ecological measures.
The Principle
Soil, water, vegetation and relief form one interconnected system. As in acupuncture, a precisely chosen point may support processes throughout a wider system. The work follows the condition and character of the specific place rather than a universal scheme.
Important Note on the Method
The method is based on field practice and observation. Its effectiveness has not yet been confirmed by full scientific research. Each intervention is therefore treated as a testable hypothesis, with changes documented over subsequent seasons.
